Introduction

Dear SUNY IT Students and Alumni:

We are pleased to provide you with “Strategies”, which has been produced by the Career Services staff in an effort to assist you with your career planning needs. The process of planning and managing a career requires a considerable amount of time, skill, initiative, and support. We hope that you will find the material, in particular, and Career Services, in general, to be of valuable assistance in your ongoing efforts.

“Strategies” has been designed to accommodate the various roles you might experience in a career from intern to experienced professional. Given the diversity of our students and alumni, we have tried to address the “big picture” of the career planning and job search processes as well as the subtleties of managing a career once you’ve found one. Many articles have been written by the Career Services staff; however, we have also included the varied perspectives of employers.

There are many different ways we can work together to support your evolving career needs – “Strategies” is a good starting point. Whether you apply this information to selecting an internship, finding a job, or developing a career plan, please let us know how we can be of assistance.
